So I only took 1 shot, and didn't really get it into focus. Jul 30 · As long as we're back in North Carolina for pictures, this is one of my favorite views of NC - alongside a winding road - where it's nice to just drive. Been stuck in the desert too long. Jul 29 · Yes, again with the 70-200, and again with people in boats. This time, however, I was seeing how well I could track a moving object without the assistance of VR. Jul 28 · First day really playing with the 70-200 I went out to the end of it's focal length to see what it could do. It's not as nice as some people say that Nikon's 70-200 VR is - but I'm not about to pay that kind of money for a single lens. Jul 27 · Not sure this one really needs an explanation. Jul 26 · Taking a break from Dubai pictures - back to the archives. This is a nice little pot at Charlotte's dad's house in North Carolina. Jul 25 · A lighter post after looking at the nasty summer heat. This was taken at the valet stand at the exit to the new Wafi City extension. Jul 24 · Much less "artistic" than I usually like - but I wanted to make sure I captured this image of Dubau. Taken on the approach to Dubai, off E-44 I think. The summers here are nasty hot, and construction never stops. Ever. They are trying to enforce a mid-day labor break (the peak of the heat of the day), but it's hard to make sure everyone is in compliance. Jul 23 · Taken on the shoulder of Sheikh Zayed Road. Jul 22 · I actually did go out the other week to take pictures - I made it less than half a day. This was taken as I was about to get on Emirates Highway. Jul 21 · Waiters at Khan Murjan Jul 20 · I took this over a month ago. Yes, I'm going back through the archives - it's very much too hot to be outside doing this photography thing. But I'm still trying. Jul 19 · I took this pic a few weeks ago, but it wasn't really as fitting then - it's gotten so much hotter that I can't stand to be outside. It's almost painful just to drive to the movie theater as the A/C doesn't make the sun stop shining on your arms. The newspapers here have been calling this a record summer - it's gotten over 125F/52C degrees at one of the military bases in Dubai last week or the week before. When I first took the picture, I thought I'd set the exposure wrong, or my metering was off. Turns out, I like this shot a lot more than many of the images I took just before and after it. Jul 3 · From Mike and Em's wedding - the back window of the church was amazing. I've tried to re-create the colors here as best as I can see them, but they were really better in person.
